DJ Latinchat is a Peruvian DJ and producer based in Berlin, known for blending percussive rhythms with elements of UK bass, ambient, and techno. Their sound moves between contemplative tracks that blend ambient textures with syncopated percussions, and harder, club-oriented sounds that feature hard-hitting polyrhythmic percusive patterns with UK bass influenced basslines. As a DJ, they craft polyrhythmic, genre-fluid sets that layer hypnotic bass lines, latinx influenced grooves, ambient infused textures and emotional progressions.
Their work has been released on labels like Traaampaaa, Basy Tropikalne, Le Ciel Records and Lacuna, and has appeared on compilations by NAAFI, Pirotecnia, Love in the Endz, Matraca, Lustpoderosa and Nofutureberlin, among others. Their tracks have been remixed by artists like EL PLVYBXY, Lila Tirando a Violeta, 3Phaz and Entrañas, and have been featured on Mixmag, Resident Advisor and First Floor.
They are one of the co-founders of Delírio, a Berlin-based club collective centring queer Latinx voices and hosting parties regularly in Berlin since 2024, and a long-time collaborator with Radical Sounds Latin America, a platform connecting experimental sound, migration, and community through an annual festival in Berlin since 2019.
DJ Latinchat has shared the booth with artists like Dengue Dengue Dengue, Lila Tirando a Violeta, Dinamarca, CRRDR, and Sofy Suars, and plays frequently across Berlin’s underground scene, having played at spaces such as OHM, Aeden, Panke, Schwuz, Acud Macht Neu, Refuge Worldwide, and Fusion Festival.
DJ Latinchatʼs “Cafunéˮ is a slice of industrial-strength reggaeton, a half-time stepper that combines the bassweight of old-school DMZ with the undulating rhythms of a Caribbean dance party. There are elements of dancehall and cumbia in there too, but what really stands out is the Peruvian producer’s mastery of low-end dynamics, the song’s oozy basslines pulsating as the busted drum patterns speed up, slow down and occasionally go off the rails entirely. https://firstfloor.substack.com/p/first-floor-220-pass-the-mic
On "Keribel," a pulsating bassline matches the dembow rattle for volume, while kicks and upright snares juggle between a dancehall and techno beat. The lighter percussion on "Cafuné" has a similar effect, skittering as though it were the opening to a speed dembow track before morphing into halftime strides through womping sub-bass.
